I just re-watched. Yep, this is the best condensed explanation of what phenomenology is that I've seen. (I just have trouble with 'Hyoo-sirl'…. :^)

What? Phenomenology starts with Kant, not Husserl. You're missing a century of development.

The best bit, IMHO, is the transcendental inanity of the soundtrack.

Somewhere i came across a neat definition of phenomenology attributed to Heidegger: The analytic description of intentionality in its a priori.

Wow, that was very pithy about Heidegger. The best I’ve seen without complicating or reducing him. Of, course there’s more but this intro provide a nice primer to search onward!

Really good explanation except for what was going on in the background music. Wish there was a version without the annoying kindergarten music in the background.

no two people can share the exact same understanding of anything AT ALL.

    Hence, no phenomenon is possible.

hence, phenomenology, is an absurd and entirely worthless concept.
This is, yet more Western-lens mentality.
Have we not had enough of it already?

    02/14/2025 - 1:57 AM

@Joy Cerujales Ma'am I can't tag you in my comment but I'll send my ss on gclass so you could see this. Phenomenology helps us to understand the meaning of people's lived experience.
•What I have noticed about phenomenological is it study explores what people experienced and focuses on their experience of a phenomena.

This is true. The reality i see is not the same reality you see. That's why people have different tastes, for example. They even see one and the same person differently. For example, have you heard anyone saying you look like this or that when you clearly see in the mirror that you don't? Or that someone resembles some celebrity and you think- not even close. It's true, individual reality is different depending on person, which rises the question – what is real reality? And how can one experience it.

I genuinely do not get the idea why philosophy and associated discourse have to rely on heavy terms. this approach is the reason why philosophy is not accessible to the masses. the irony is that Philosophy is exactly the key to better understanding of self and our environment. it is the answer to a ton of problems we as an individual and as a society face today.

But no, instead of recognizing it and attempting to make philosophy easy to understand and access, you just had to go and make it complicated with complicated terms and narratives.
