We’ve discussed some aspects of biotechnology already, but we have yet to discuss the promising field of synthetic biology. We are now able to manipulate biological organisms in ways that have technological applications, and one of the most important of these applications has to do with materials science. We are now beginning to figure out how to engineer microorganisms that will manufacture important materials for us, which circumvents traditional chemical manufacturing via petrochemicals. The economic, environmental, and sociological impact of this practice promises to be tremendous, so let’s go over the basics and see precisely what we are dealing with.

02/24/2025 - 6:24 AMI don't understand the "intermediate pathway that can be funneled into our novel pathway" step 10:55 .. Does the microorganism take its natural pathway without additional human intervention? What is required to funnel the intermediate pathway to the novel pathway?

02/24/2025 - 6:24 AMReally professor Dave , that is fascinating indeed. Have you ever considered working for Disney or Amazon teaching high school classes via online courses , Such as chemistry biology and physics . I'm Sure the Pay Cheque isn't that bad . Why you could have you own signature "Professor Dave " Chemistry , physics and BIOLOGY sets all adhering too International standards . Is that something you would be interested in ?

02/24/2025 - 6:24 AMAre you planning on continuing the history of drugs series? An MAOI was originally for used for TB with its AD effect as an accidental side effect. Would love a few videos on Neuropharmacology if you have the time.

02/24/2025 - 6:24 AMWith Alpha Fold we could reach the holy grail of making our own synthetic enzymes, saving the time and money of searching them in nature. Now that is the complete revolution

02/24/2025 - 6:24 AMNow this one is interesting! I would like to ask you for a video explaining the current vaccine production methods. Another one I am particularly interested in, is how a vaccine research starts. I mean the preclinical phase, when they try to find the receptors, and how they examine a virus to find a way to attack.
