Join George and John as they discuss and debate different Philosophical ideas, today they will be discussing the theory of Pantheism.
Is the universe actually God itself? This is the Pantheistic belief, that the entire universe, everything we see hear end feel, the totality of reality is in fact God. Is this the most rational and logical approach to theism? Watch as the strengths and philosophical problems and analysed.

02/13/2025 - 5:41 PMThis world is the equal plan of the universe, without discrimination. No being is superior to another. We are all reflections of the universe and connected to each other. Our freedom is sacred as long as it does not harm others; for no one has the right to dictate what others should or should not do. To be a pantheist is to believe that the universe exists in everything and to respect the harmony of all things. This reminds us of our responsibility to the world and all creation. We are all one, we are all equal, we are all stardust โคโ

02/13/2025 - 5:41 PMWhat about panentheism, the idea that everything and everyone exists in God and God exists in everything while at the same time transcending it all, including space and time?

02/13/2025 - 5:41 PMI wonder if Pantheism can answer the question , what or how the universe came to existence ? I mean from gases , planets , animals , galaxy's etc ?

02/13/2025 - 5:41 PMIs it odd to be an atheist yet think pantheism is the most logical thing, assuming a 'god' exists? Maybe 'God' is just the energy that gives or provides the opportunity of life? An energy that lives. And such as an atheist I'm equally in awe of the huge vastness of space. The sheer distance between stars.

02/13/2025 - 5:41 PMI just now asked Google if there is a religion that believes the universe is god? That led me to pantheism and to this video. With that being said, my entire life I have thought/believed that the universe is god and I never knew about this religion called pantheism. The way I came up with my belief is simple. In the United States, being mostly Christian. When you're growing up the Church tells you that God is everywhere and goes on forever. Well, the universe is everywhere and goes on forever. Therefore, the universe is god, and god is the universe. Also we come from stardust, so there's that. Anyway that's my thought, that's what I believe. You can have yours, and I have mine. That's the beauty of this place. ๐บ๐ธ

02/13/2025 - 5:41 PMI am not convinced by the monad stuff and I don't think that pantheism needs it, even though monad stuff may fit well with some forms of pantheism.
For the difference with atheism, "atheist" literally means "without God" so if God is identified with the universe, pantheists are not atheists as long as they believe in the universe.
For the synonymy between "God" and "universe", so what? That happened for many things, e.g., with Hesperus and Phosphorus, and this is just Ockham's razor once more.
I see the main idea with pantheism rather as attributing the "unmoved mover" feature to the universe itself.
Finally, (this) pantheism does not tick the "personal" box. Here, pantheists would just say that classical theists are mistaken about that. Being the "unmoved mover" is the point.

02/13/2025 - 5:41 PMI had a crisis of personal development in 2020 when my girlfriend kicked me out and I realized I had to work on a lot of stuff.
Anxiety was a big thing that I was trying to manage so I started studying stoicism and Taoism. Both helped but I really preferred Taoism because it was a much more carefree and laid-back approach to being present. And it also kind of became My chosen choice of spirituality. Trying to meditate or reflect on it or Read about it was always comforting. But I didn't hold much belief in it particularly being true outside of the fact that everything is energy. I guess part of me still looked at that without assigning any kind of meaning to it and instead just being like "Hey technically the taoists were right"
I fell off kind of trying to meditate or study with it much for a while. But then I started getting into using psychedelics to help with mental health. 6 months into that journey and all of a sudden one night I saw God. And God was indeed everything. And I saw everything. The universe, creation, expansion, consciousness. I came out of that trip and all of a sudden everything made sense. I don't just have a sense of what they meant the Tao to be. I now understand it completely.
The comparison in this video to atheism is valid with the exception of atheists missing just one thing about that worldview. That existence is divine. It is not just existence as it is, it is being part of something greater than us. A higher power as people like to say. And that doesn't have to be an elderly looking man with a long white beard dressed in some robes. That can be existence.
The Bible calls God spaceless and timeless. As is existence.
Since that experience not only do I just have this understanding of this concept, but it has been interesting to study religion in general. As at the very least my mind is much more open to the concept of God.
@user-xu4ow8wu2q
02/13/2025 - 5:41 PMVery good. But In naturalist/scientific Pantheism.it's just about the definition of the word god. If you only define the word god as that which produced this, then there is a god by definition. But, it's nature/the totality. So it is a world view for atheists.

02/13/2025 - 5:41 PMI woke one morning with an epiphany that everything from the smallest to the largest, from the smallest insect to largest body in the cosmos are all part of the same,I even remember the dream as I zoomed out from this world and into space as we know it. The one word that woke me that day was โONEโ It was the strangest moment in my life. That day as I looked through the pages of a news paper on my work break the word โONEโ was spread across the pages. I immediately was taken back to my morning epiphany. The article went on to talk about Chinese Taoism, which I read and thoroughly enjoyed as it made sense of what I was feeling. However many years later after forgetting all about that day I find myself here. I still donโt know what it all means but I feel Iโm getting somewhere.
