HAS SPACE ALWAYS BEEN BLACK? As long as we’ve been around, YES. But the universe gets much more exciting, AND much BRIGHTER, as we start winding our clocks back to the early days of the universe. Near the beginning of the universe, when space was rapidly expanding, that dark night sky we know so well as actually…ORANGE! But why? Did the lights just go out, or did something more spectacular happen? Watch this episode of PBS Space Time and find out!

02/12/2025 - 10:20 PMSo many claims are made but how confident are we about this information? How do we really know when the first atoms were created?

02/12/2025 - 10:20 PMThank you!

02/12/2025 - 10:20 PMHow can we absorb this info when you talk so fast?!?

02/12/2025 - 10:20 PMTo think this video is 9 years old…
@jedgould5531
02/12/2025 - 10:20 PMTo talk about the color of space, don’t we need to talk about which particles that color is reflecting from? It seems like cheating to perpetually refer to a splotch chart when referring to the CMB.

02/12/2025 - 10:20 PMIt is kind of scary to think that the One Who spoke all things into existence the first time, will more than likely speak another time even as things are "warming up" worldwide!
@Jimmy_Johns
02/12/2025 - 10:20 PMWAIT! I JUST CAME UP WITH SOMETHING! While telescopes are time machines into the past, microscopes are time machines into the future.
What people in the CERN are doing is watching into the future. Práctically how all will end when the dark energy wins.
@SeauxNOLALady
02/12/2025 - 10:20 PMIs this guy the same guy who narrated the Micro Machine commercials in the 80’s and 90’s? He talks like an auctioneer who needs a drink of water to quench his cotton mouth too. You can hear the inside of his mouth sticking to itself…which makes me uncomfortable…

@Hal_McKinney
02/12/2025 - 10:20 PMHow could the universe not have a minimal level of noise anyway? Why is a “Big Bang” needed to explain this?

@mineduck3050
02/12/2025 - 10:20 PMSpace as a whole is also matter, we are within this matter as parts of it. It's black not from a void, it's black because the bigger sum of light and motion is too big to see. When you put detectors on it, you get the radiance of it's form back. We confuse it as explosion remnants in a void. There is no void. Microwave background is like a atom man on an atomic particle looking up from out of your elbow. He doesn't see anything but black stillness interspersed with the other particles in his perspective of observation.
@starwaving8857
02/12/2025 - 10:20 PMHe is asking wrong question in wrong dimension.
@johnlocke3481
02/12/2025 - 10:20 PMIf it’s visible in all directions the same way, how could it be from the big bang. Wouldn’t we just see it in the direction of the explosion?
@perzetterberg7907
02/12/2025 - 10:20 PMHow did we get here before to observe something that was emitted 13 billion years ago, thank!?
@Chris.Davies
02/12/2025 - 10:20 PMThere is no CMB.
It's all microwave artifacts created by water.
The only radio telescope in the world which does not suffer from leakage into its antenna (In Armenia) saw absolutely nothing when it looked into the sky trying to examine the CMB. Case Closed. No Big Bang. DYOR.
@springfieldbearpatrol2937
02/12/2025 - 10:20 PMHow are we measuring the temperature of the outer reaches of space? Are we not inside the cocoon of the solar system? And is that solar system not inside the galaxy and it’s glow? Could the CMB simply be local?
@thomasolson7447
02/12/2025 - 10:20 PMMost stars are binary. Wouldn't that red shift most of the light that gets to us?
@Spika94
02/12/2025 - 10:20 PMWhat i dont understand, and what these guys never seem to explain, is: why the CMB proves anything? They say it is there and and proves this and that, but never why it proves anything.
@OrangeRadish49
02/12/2025 - 10:20 PMI love the color orange so when I learned space was orange I'm happy

02/12/2025 - 10:20 PMWe have been living in a toaster
@Thrna_1
02/12/2025 - 10:20 PMDoes this mean that at some point in the far future that redshifting into radio waves would make the CMB audible to animal ears?
@Rob-gf3pb
02/12/2025 - 10:20 PMI have serious questions about how we can be so confident in our ability to know how all this happened…who has been asked and can even realistically disagree/agree with any meaning?
@damvor135
02/12/2025 - 10:20 PMThanks. The first video that explained BB in a way i understand and visualize it. Toaster!
@MrBigdaddy2ya
02/12/2025 - 10:20 PMBig bang theory is being disproved at present. Why was there plasma in the beginning and where did it come from. It is energy so has mass so if mass existed prior to big bang then any form of mass could exist at that time and a big bang wouldn't be needed.
Now mature galaxies being found proves this. Its logic silly goose. Everything has a beginning yet a beginning isnt theoretically possible because something can't come from nothing and matter couldn't have always exsisted yet always fun to hear that argument.
There must be something that can create something out of nothing therefore there must be a creator. Even Einstein knew this. He said the universe is like looking at a well organized library. Couldn't have organized itself but always interesting to hear wild theory's that are more impossible to believe than behaphs we are a alien experiment created for a purpose.

02/12/2025 - 10:20 PMCan you get your sound engineer to get rid of the constant G# in the back ground. I know you can’t. And I’m 7 years late but 5:28 was such relief.
