A game engine can include hidden rooms that cannot be seen on the screen. However, those rooms are still there. You can have an invisible character that does not appear on the screen, but your character will still interact with it. In both cases, there is nothing you can cut open to visualize these invisible objects. However, they are still present in the code.
What you are talking about is just abstraction. The triangle you see in your head isn't physically present. But, if materialism is correct, then its abstraction is somehow present in the pattern of your firing neurons the same way the invisible character is present in the computer code.
That said, consciousness is unknown. We have no idea what is actually happening when you visualize that triangle. So yeah, consciousness is a great place to look for failures in materialism.
Sure, but here’s the rub: We know of no consciousness that exists independent of matter. Thus far, we only know consciousness as a product of brain function. It exists as solely a physical interaction in the brain, with chemical reactions and electricity traveling through neural pathways. It’s complex and fascinating, yes. But can’t it be that without adding supernatural fluff to it? In the words of Douglas Adams, “Is it not enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe there are fairies at the bottom of it too?”
Shouldn't we consider the brain and consciousness more like a laptop in this analogy? The screen that displays the triangle is integrated in the device.
We are the interface. We’re not the computer. “We” as in “I” or “who I am”, we are the interface. The computer is certain parts of the brain, and the interface, “the I”, is others. They talk to eachother in a way we probably won’t understand for another couple of generations, if ever. That triangle is basically a magical quantum miracle that you’ll never be able to cut open and see, you might be able to replicate it once we figure out exactly what neurons firing makes that triangle appear. However that exact, specific triangle will never happen again. It’s lost to time. Entropy has engulfed it.
The triangle comes from the imagination which is another thing that separates us from other species on this planet, the computer seems similar because it was created by man the computer is us I mean it's written in the Bible John 10:34 where in the image of the Creator and what we create is the image of us
The same argument can be made for objective reality itself. Whatever we perceive as real and outside of us is a projection of sensory information interpreted by our brains. But where is it projected to? There's no external solid screen here to speak of. Reality as we perceive it, is a projection on to an immaterial consciousness.
For the sake of the argument brain and computer do not seem to be a good comparison. If we are by materialistic notions to atribute consciousness to our material brains, we have the question, how do I become the observer who sees said triangle. On the computer, we see the images being shaped on the screen, but always depending on our understanding, it’s lights and electricity, displaying patterns that our brains can understand, without our interpretation, the computer is just patterns.
The triangle is there in the form of electro-chemical signals. Just because we can’t pinpoint it doesn’t mean it’s not there. Photons, electromagnetism, gravity are all immaterial but still exist and are ‘real’ physical phenomenon. People use the incorrect definition of the word ‘immaterial’ meaning spiritual. The mind is immaterial but using the meaning ‘without matter’, it is still a real physical phenomenon.
Our immune system takes care of everything while sleeping .. our own DMT we make knocks us out and the cells instilled with memories and all in a state of chaos as they are broken down releasing the karmic memories of our past life experience. The mind has no other choice but to make sense of this chaos by just watching over it in a trip of natural DMT. If we remember it’s only because the anaesthesia is wearing off. The river of mind is infinite ♾️ our body is temporary ✨🙏🏻✨🕉️✨💜✨🌌✨
There's a perpetual human struggle to understand that which is not intuitive to our senses that, at some point, makes you question your entire reality.
The thing is that the processes that allow for us to form a belief in consciousness are so inherently unintuitive and out of the scope of our mental development that we may never truly grasp them. In our anthropocentric view of the universe, it's quite difficult to relate to concepts entirely outside what we perceive as human beings.
Actually I think this is an argument for the existence of God however you may define it. Pure unconsciousness is completely beyond our control. The images and symbols encountered there are not manipulated by us. This was one of Carl June's ideas. When asked if he believed in God he answered I know there is God.
I do think (personally speaking) that it is physicalism that so far explains it simplist, even if it doesn't have all the answers and theories needed yet for a satisfactory explanation. We humans have only just started (on cosmic scales) trying to understand the universe around us and I think sometimes we are a little impatient, what with our short lives we expect answers all to quickly. Alex says he sees a triangle in his mind, well spare a thought for those of us who have Aphantasia (no mind's eye, complete blank for me). I have enlisted onto a study role, to hopefully take part in future tests to see if science can help with the condition. So nothing is ever set in stone as to the truth of these matters, but my money is going on boring old, out of fashion materialism (will happily change my mind if demonstrated another way that has results).
❤ I've been trying to keep a dream journal, but it's real basic with themes that repeat themselves and honestly, it's embarrassing. Why am I always chasing love? The one thing that may not even exist?
I love watching your journey towards Jesus Christ. Would I love you to find him right now through revelation? I would but God is using you for bigger purposes. Your journey which I assure you will lead to the embracing between you and Jesus is going to save a lot of atheists along the way. God is using you in the most amazing ways.

So if we pull the cable out is the computer conscious?
